This course explores advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) and monitoring technologies used to evaluate prestressed and post-tensioned concrete structures. Topics include the integration of multiple NDT methods for bridge assessment and load rating, the role of NDT in evaluating post-tensioned systems, acoustic emission monitoring for wire-break detection in bridges and wind turbine structures, and advanced techniques for evaluating post-tensioning ducts. Participants will gain an understanding of how these technologies support condition assessment, structural health monitoring, maintenance planning, and infrastructure safety.

  1. Identify nondestructive testing methods used to assess prestressed and post-tensioned concrete structures.
  2. Describe the role of NDT in evaluating the condition and performance of post-tensioned systems.
  3. Explain the application of acoustic emission monitoring for detecting damage in prestressed structures.
  4. Discuss advanced techniques for evaluating post-tensioning ducts and supporting structural assessment decisions.

Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
