Course Overview
The course objective is to present state-of-the-art and emerging technologies for the strength evaluation and design of concrete bridges using advanced computational analysis and load testing methods. The following topics will be discussed: advanced nonlinear modeling and nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA), structural versus element rating, determination of structure specific reliability indexes, load testing beyond the service level, load testing to failure, and use of continuous monitoring for detecting anomalies.
Learning Objectives
1. Describe the load redistribution behavior on interior prestressed concrete bridge girders when tested to shear failure.
2. Explain design deficiencies to bridge girder dapped end connections that suffered shear failure.
3. Describe highway bridge weight load limit testing methods used by engineers to evaluate existing load rating bridge capacities.
4. Recall the strengthening methods that were used on the edge bridge girders on the existing Jacques Cartier Bridge.
Instructions
Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.15 CEU (1.5 PDH). Continuing Education Credit: 0.15 CEU (1.5 PDH)Approved AIA and ICCAccess Period: 30 days
