Physical testing of cement has traditionally been a very operator dependent process. Testing is labor intensive, time consuming work; and the volume of work produced is limited by the speed and capabilities of the Physical Tester. Proper training is critical to providing accurate and reliable test results on a consistent basis.

This training module was developed as a resource for new testers and a refresher for experienced testers. For each test, the videos will review the equipment specific to the ASTM method, the procedure, the calculation of results, and also provide helpful tips to improve the technicians’ knowledge and technique.
1. List the procedures associated with standard testing of ordinary portland cement.
2. Describe the details associated with physical testing of portland cement.
3. Identify the calibration requirements of the methods and the equipment.
4. Recognize the impact of not strictly following the test methods.
Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 20-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.3 CEU (3.0 PDH).
