This is a recorded webinar from June 4, 2024.

Chemical admixtures have been an integral part of concrete construction for decades, and they will continue to play an even greater role in mixture designs as the concrete industry transitions to low-embodied carbon concrete to meet global warming potential (GWP) limits in project specifications. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of chemical admixtures, with particular focus on admixtures that can contribute significantly to lowering the embodied carbon content of concrete or minimizing/eliminating concrete waste. Projects highlighting the successful use of low-embodied carbon concretes using either existing supplementary cementitious materials and/or other innovative commercially available options that facilitate sustainable concrete construction will be presented.
1. Explore current admixture technologies and their attributes.
2. Explain how operational efficiencies can be achieved using chemical admixtures.
3. Identify and troubleshoot potential issues and undesired effects in concrete.
4. Understand the role of chemical admixtures in sustainable concrete construction.
