Course Overview
Continuing Education Credit: 0.6 CEU (6 PDH)Approved by AIA and ICCAccess Period: 90 daysConcrete Field Testing Grade I Certification Training – 6 modulesThis course contains six modules that prepare you for the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I Certification Exam. Performance and written exams through a Local Sponsoring Group are required to become ACI Certified.Making and Curing Concrete Cylinders and Beams in the Field0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module will familiarize you with the standard procedures for making and curing cylinder and beam specimens from representative samples of fresh concrete. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to identify the need for molding concrete test specimens in the field; describe the testing requirements, apparatus, and procedures for molding specimens; identify the need, methods, and requirements for curing specimens; and describe the standard requirements for transporting concrete specimens to a laboratory for testing.Sampling and Measuring Temperature of Fresh Concrete0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module explains the procedures for sampling and testing freshly mixed concrete. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to explain the need and describe the standard requirements and procedures for sampling freshly mixed concrete; and describe the procedure and identify the testing apparatus for measuring the temperature of concreteSlump of Fresh Concrete0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module explains the procedures for determining the slump of hydraulic-cement concrete, both in a laboratory and in the field. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to define “slump”; describe the procedure and identify the testing apparatus for measuring the slump of freshly mixed hydraulic-cement concrete; and report the slump test result using appropriate terminology.Air Content of Fresh Concrete—Pressure Method0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module introduces you to the procedures for measuring and calculating the air content of freshly mixed concrete with a Type B pressure meter. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to identify the apparatus and describe the procedure used for measuring the air content of concrete with a Type B meter; calculate the Aggregate Correction Factor using experimental data; calculate the air content of concrete used as the test sample; and identify the information to be reported in the test results.Air Content of Fresh Concrete—Volumetric Method0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module introduces you to the procedures for measuring and calculating the air content of freshly mixed concrete using the volumetric method. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to identify the apparatus and describe the procedure used for measuring the air content of concrete using the volumetric method; and calculate the air content of concrete used as the test sample.Density (Unit Weight) and Yield of Fresh Concretee0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH)This module introduces you to the procedures for measuring and calculating the density, yield, and air content of fresh concrete. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to define the terms density, yield, and air content; identify the apparatus, appropriate consolidation method, and procedure used to measure the density of concrete; identify basic terminology associated with the calculation of density, yield, and air content; calculate density, yield, and air content; and identify the information to be reported.
