This is a recorded webinar from March 3, 2020.

In this webinar we will review the purpose, scope, and some key provisions for concrete materials and construction in ACI 318-19 (Chapters 19 and 26). We will highlight the background and fundamental concepts that serve as a basis for selecting and specifying concrete properties, durability, and construction requirements - and some changes from earlier editions of the Code. The objective of these Code requirements is to ensure the structure is built as intended by the licensed design professional; thus, they are essential to the success of any project designed in accordance with ACI 318.
1. Differentiate between design and construction requirements reflected in the Code.
2. Explain how the Code guides selection and specification of concrete materials and properties, and defines acceptable concrete.
3. Identify key Code provisions for durable concrete (now including alkali-aggregate reactivity).
4. Summarize the rationale for recent Code changes (including those that address alternative cements, recycled aggregates, lightweight concrete, and shotcrete).
