This module is based on Chapter 5 excerpted from The Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction, which addresses the use of formwork used on construction projects. Specific sections deal with safety considerations, types of forms, form materials and hardware, basic form design, and formwork cost. This document was edited by Anthony Lamanna and reviewed and approved by ACI E703 – Concrete Construction Practices and the ACI Educational Activities Committee.

2. List different types of form materials, hardware, and appropriateness for various applications.
3. Explain the aspects of jobsite form design.
4. Understand lateral form pressure for column and wall forms.
