This module is based on Chapter 4 excerpted from ACI 347R-14, “Guide to Formwork for Concrete.” The chapter addresses planning and design considerations for formwork. More specifically, the common design deficiencies, vertical and horizontal loads, safety factors for formwork accessories and shoring are discussed. This document was developed by ACI Committee 347 and approved by the ACI Technical Activities Committee.

We have included Chapter 1-3 as supporting information for this course.
1. Identify the sequence of planning for formwork drawings and calculations.
2. Understand design loads and minimum values for formwork.
3. Recognize the safety factors for formwork accessories.
4. State the techniques to stabilize foundations for formwork.
Read and study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
