NASA is preparing to return to the moon before the end of the next decade with the intent of building outposts and paving the way for eventual journeys to Mars and beyond. In 1991, ACI Committee 125 published SP-125: Lunar Concrete exploring the production and use of concrete on the moon. Since then, research activities on Earth and off Earth or “Off World” greatly enhanced our understanding of cement and concrete. Industry leaders will highlight some of these activities and advancements as well as current collaborations underway to address construction technology and materials for future Earth and Off World applications.
1. Connect problem solving and innovation.
2. Recognize the role collaboration plays in advancing innovation.
3. Explain the role ACI plays bringing new technology to the market.
4. Recognize how additive manufacturing concrete technology shapes new and different performance requirements of the concrete.
