This is a recorded webinar from February 1, 2022.

In this webinar, engineers from chemical admixtures and concrete ready-mix companies will discuss their collaborative research on the sustainability of concrete mixes using a novel strength-enhancing admixture. The speakers will share the process of establishing a collaboration across their companies that had no prior research relationship, their personal motivation to investigate eco-efficiency of concrete mixes with this admixture, and their findings that with the use of this novel admixture the concrete environmental impact can be substantially reduced. The engineers will also reflect on their communications with architects, structural designers, and contractors for feedback and to engage them as advocates of new products to produce sustainable concrete. This example is a roadmap for other engineers seeking to identify added value, with respect to sustainability, to the concrete innovations that their organization are bringing to market.

1. Review motivations and primary benefits of using a strength-enhancing chemical admixture.2. Explain how to investigate and report benefits of using chemical admixtures in producing more sustainable concrete. 3. Discuss how to develop industry partnerships between adjacent sectors in the concrete industry to investigate and demonstrate the effect of using new products on eco-efficiency of concrete. 4. Recognize the role and importance of communication with stakeholders on the evolution and uptake of new products in producing more sustainable concrete.
