This is a recorded webinar from November 15, 2023.

This webinar is jointly sponsored by NEx: An ACI Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

This presentation discusses practical applications of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) in engineering situations that take advantage of the unique properties of this ductile material. Emphasis is placed on the engineering, cost, and environmental performances when compared with conventional steel-reinforced concrete on a project basis. Some challenges in the broader adoption of this relatively new member in the concrete family are also highlighted.
1. Describe ductile Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC).
2. Identify applications where and how ECC could be used.
3. Explain the engineering, cost, and environmental advantages in projects when using ECC.
4. Review challenges encountered switching from normal concrete to ECC.
