ACI 332 is the current state-of-the-art for concrete design and construction standards to the residential concrete construction industry. A reference standard for the International Residential Code, this code has been reshaping the industry since 2004. The presentation will describe the primary elements of the code that advance the industry, covering materials, soils, footings, foundation walls, and the comparison of shrinkage and structural reinforcement requirements pertaining to concrete in today’s residential structures.
1. Assess the application differences of ACI 332 when compared to IRC.
2. Identify the major fundamentals of materials, design, and construction prescribed by ACI 332.
3. Identify variability in design of foundations through prescriptive method.
4. Evaluate common inspection items and acceptance criteria.
