Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician Training – 6 modules

This course contains six modules that prepare you for the ACI Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician Certification Exam. Performance and written exams through a Local Sponsoring Group are required to become ACI Certified.

Introduction to Self-Consolidating Concrete

This module will familiarize you with what Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) is and the properties associated with it. ASTM test methods and apparatus used for each SCC test procedure will be identified and the purpose of each SCC test procedure will be explained. Also covered in this module are the procedures for each SCC test and the output of those tests.

Static Segregation of SCC Using Column Technique

This module will provide an overview of the procedures for determining the static segregation of SCC. As a technician, you may not be asked to run this test in the field, as the test method is not well-suited for the field. Nevertheless, it is an option for the specifier, and it is important to understand why a specifier may choose to include it.

Slump Flow of Self-Consolidating Concrete

This module explains the purpose of the slump flow test and identifies the testing apparatus for measuring the slump flow of an SCC mixture. This module also describes the procedure for measuring the slump flow of an SCC mixture and shows how to calculate and report the required information using appropriate terminology. The procedure for measuring the T50 and reporting the results will also be covered.

Passing Ability of SCC by J-Ring

This module explains the purpose of the J-ring test and identifies the testing apparatus for measuring the passing ability of an SCC mixture. It also covers the procedure for measuring the passing ability of an SCC mixture and shows how to calculate and report the required information using appropriate terminology.

Rapid Assessment of Static Segregation Resistance Using Penetration Test

This module explains the purpose of the static segregation resistance test and identifies the testing apparatus for measuring the penetration depth (Pd) of an SCC mixture. The procedure for measuring the Pd of an SCC mixture will be covered and calculating and reporting the required information using appropriate terminology will be explained.

Fabricating Test Specimens with SCC

This module explains when to apply ASTM C1758 and the purpose of fabricating test specimens to test for density and air content of concrete. Equipment used to fabricate test specimens with SCC will be identified and the procedure for fabricating test specimens with SCC will be described.
