This module is based on an article from Concrete International magazine designed to help construction professionals answer questions about methods for developing safe and economical construction schedules. This includes reuse of forming and shoring materials, as well as adequate, but not excessive formwork design. Additionally a detailed design example from ACI 347.2R-05, “Guide for Shoring/Reshoring of Concrete Multistory Buildings,” is included.
1. Explain how shores carry forces from the formwork, concrete, and construction live loads above.
2. Describe how construction loads are distributed.
3. Discuss the dependency of cracking and deflections on early age concrete strength.
4. Examine two-way slab construction techniques.
Read and study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
