This module explores how structural efficiency and high-performance materials contribute to sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Through discussions on resilience-based design and the use of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC), the module examines how durability, life-cycle assessment, and system-wide design approaches can reduce environmental impacts while improving long-term performance and functionality of structures.

  1. Explain the relationship between structural resilience, sustainability, and performance-based design.
  2. Evaluate the sustainability of UHPC using life-cycle assessment (LCA) and life-cycle cost (LCC) concepts.
  3. Identify how high-performance materials improve durability, functionality, and post-event recovery of structures.
  4. Recognize system-level design strategies that enhance structural efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
