Webinar Series: Additive Construction by Concrete Extrusion is about the emerging technology of 3D printed concrete and its application in concrete construction. Based on the forthcoming ACI 564 Emerging Technology Report on 3D Printed Concrete, the series follows the report’s chapter sequence to introduce key topics such as foundational terminology, processing platforms, printable materials, quality control, case studies, and future research needs. Each webinar focuses on selected chapters and provides a structured overview of current knowledge, practical considerations, and ongoing developments in additive construction by concrete extrusion.

 

This first webinar, Introduction into 3D Printed Concrete, introduces the foundational concepts covered in Chapters 1 and 2 of the forthcoming ACI 564 Emerging Technology Report on 3D Printed Concrete. The webinar will define key terminology, explain the basic principles of 3D printed concrete, and provide context for additive construction by concrete extrusion as an emerging technology in concrete construction.

  1. Define key terminology associated with 3D-printed concrete and its use in construction.
  2. Describe the fundamental principles and main components of 3D concrete printing technologies.
  3. Identify key considerations related to materials, processing platforms, quality control, and performance evaluation of 3D printed concrete.
  4. Describe current applications, challenges, and future research directions for 3D-printed concrete.

Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
