This course presents current practices and emerging technologies for the condition assessment and monitoring of prestressed concrete structures. Topics include nondestructive evaluation of bonded post-tensioned ducts, corrosion assessment and mitigation in post-tensioned bridge systems, advancements in ultrasonic imaging techniques for concrete structures, and the use of digital twin technology to simulate acoustic wave propagation in prestressed concrete elements. Participants will gain an understanding of inspection methodologies, diagnostic technologies, and data interpretation approaches used to evaluate the condition and durability of prestressed systems.
  1. Identify nondestructive evaluation techniques used to assess grout conditions and defects in bonded post-tensioned ducts.
  2. Describe common causes, indicators, and mitigation methods associated with corrosion in bonded post-tensioning systems.
  3. Explain the principles and applications of ultrasonic imaging technologies for evaluating concrete structures and detecting internal defects.
  4. Discuss the role of digital twin technology and acoustic wave simulation in monitoring prestressed concrete elements.

Study the materials included in this module. Then, complete and pass the corresponding 10-question quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate for 0.1 CEU (1.0 PDH).
